HBET & Sensor Fish
HydroPASSAGE project roles:
• Assesses hydraulic conditions of fish passage using Sensor Fish and JSATS technology
• Developed the Hydropower Biological Evaluation Toolset (HBET)

Tao Fu is a data scientist with 15 years of professional experience that includes hydropower research and acoustic telemetry development and applications. He has been actively involved in the environmental assessment of conventional hydropower and marine and hydrokinetic renewable energy systems. He is part of the development team of Juvenile Salmon Acoustic Telemetry System (JSATS), which has been widely used for monitoring the survival of juvenile salmonids through hydroelectric facilities and fish behavior studies. Tao’s recent research focuses on understanding the hydraulic conditions of fish passages, especially hydraulic turbines, using Sensor Fish devices and JSATS technology.
