Biological Response
HydroPASSAGE project roles:
• Assesses simulated hydraulic conditions of fish passage using laboratory-based experiments

Kristin Engbrecht is an earth scientist in the Environmental Assessment of Energy Systems team in the Ecology Group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). She has been involved with studying the physical stressors associated with downstream fish passage at hydraulic structures. She has assisted with simulating physical stressors, including fluid shear and rapid decompression, using laboratory-based experiments at PNNL. Results have helped to determine the susceptibility of a variety of fish and to develop dose-response models to estimate injury and mortality rates at hydropower facilities.
